The Nurse Practitioner for the Oncological Solid Tumor/Medical Oncology Unit, Weinberg 4 works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients.

Education/Licensure: Completion of accredited Masters Acute NP program in area of specialty (Adult or Geriatrics) Maryland RN licenses and NP certification as an ANP or ACNP. Must be eligible for DEA registration. Three years of nursing experience required, significant experience with acute adult nursing preferred.



Knowledge and skills: Advanced clinical skills in specialty area or equivalent. Advanced research knowledge, including interpretation, utilization, and conduct. Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care team members. Analytical ability necessary to diagnose patients and to develop and implement plans of action for long and short term management of health. Primary responsibilities include educating patients, managing care, providing on-going support and follow-up for our patients, and coordinating care across multiple internal and external providers. The Oncology Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients under the direct supervision of a Nurse Practitioner or physician. The NPA practices within the guidelines of the unit department, and institution, and in accordance with the NP-Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland. The practitioner functions as a NP Associate until affiliate staff privileges are granted by the Johns Hopkins Medical Board.
